The MuteFour times lost, seven days wide,The Mute
More Like This
and but six years wasted,
A woman saw from whence came a man
whose face was set from bedrock.
She cried out to this rigid statue,
and she wanted to say "I love you,"
but he could not understand.
Because she did not speak English.
The man, observing her face, said
"Why do you not understand me?
Are you not fluent in our language?"
And the woman felt ashamed.
She looked into hard jade eyes
and replied "I know how to speak,
I am true with my words.
But I cannot speak to you."
The woman saw the rock man
and knew that he was no other love
whom she'd wasted time on
and who had stolen the English words.
This mountain, taking pity,
offered his hand to console
and the woman, touched, took it.
She whispered "Ya tebya liublu."
